Next Meeting – Tuesday, January 9, 2007 at 7:00PM
Where – Dacusville Lion’s Club, Thomas Mill Road
A Letter from the president:
As many of you know, I was elected
in November to serve as Dacusville’s School Board Trustee. Never would I
have anticipated the chain of events that followed shortly after the
election. The action of the School Board, choosing an Installment Purchase
Plan (IPP) to finance school construction will have a major impact on
those of us who operate our own business. So those of you who operate a
grading company, run a store, have a hair styling salon or any other
business in Pickens County will be deeply affected by this tax increase.
As your DBA President and your School Board Trustee, I feel it is my duty
to keep you informed about these developments and how they will affect
your business. I will discuss this tax increase and any other school board
issue during our meeting on Tuesday.
Congratulations to our
vice-president David Norton. David was elected to the board of the Soil
and Water Conservation District. With David’s election, the Dacusville
Business Association now has four elected officials in our membership.
David joins county councilman Tom Ponder, State Senator Larry Martin and
School Board Trustee Jim Shelton. We can and should use this access to our
advantage.
Our guest speaker this month will
be Kent Dykes from the Easley Chamber of Commerce.
Please mark your calendar and
attend this informative meeting. Remember that we will serve dinner at
7:00PM, offered as always by Terry Taylor’s Dacusville Smokehouse. The
cost for dinner is $7.50. Don’t forget to bring your business cards and
flyers to promote your business.
I look forward to seeing you
Tuesday.
Sincerely,
Jim Shelton
President, Dacusville Business Association
PS – Bring a friend. I’m sure they’ll find the evening enjoyable and
informative as well.
